Grand Theft Auto 6 or GTA 6 is scheduled for release next year, and gaming enthusiasts around the globe have been eagerly awaiting the next installment in the GTA series. Initially, it was reported that the game would be launched for PlayStation (PS) and Xbox platforms. However, there’s some disappointing news for Sony PlayStation users. Reports indicate that nearly half of PS users might not be able to play GTA VI on their current consoles.
Video journalist Stephen Totilo shared that Sony recently revealed it has 118 million monthly active PS users, with half of them still using PS4 consoles. Unfortunately, GTA VI is expected to be available exclusively on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and the anticipated PS5 Pro.
This means that around 50 per cent of PS users, who are still on PS4 consoles, will need to upgrade their hardware to enjoy GTA VI, as their current devices do not meet the game’s requirements.
Previously, it was reported that Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, confirmed that GTA VI will be released in Fall 2025, likely between September and November. The release timeline for the PC version has yet to be announced.
GTA 6: Release
Chairman and CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, said, “As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver net bookings of 5.55 USD to 5.65 Billion USD (approx. Rs 462 crore to Rs 470 crore). Our outlook looks like a narrowing of Rockstar Games’s previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI.”
In December of last year, Rockstar Games released the highly anticipated trailer for GTA VI on their official YouTube channel. The trailer introduces Lucia, the game’s first female protagonist, starting in a prison setting. As the trailer unfolds, Lucia and her boyfriend are shown executing Bonnie and Clyde-style heists in Vice City.
Earlier Rockstar Games said, “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the GTA series yet.”
